My Pledge: Morning Motivation

I am the king of the snooze button. Those of you who read my blog know that I have a personal vendetta against my snoozing ways and that I’m on a quest to bring life into the early mornings. This is the single biggest rule I am breaking. Although I sometimes jump to alertness at the sound of my alarm, all too often I am reaching out for an extra 10 minutes of dream-time.

I know I’m not the only one. I can’t be, right? I have spoken to quite a few people about this issue and it seems that most people have a problem with waking up at the first alarm. Some people are content with it; and some people are as frustrated as me.

With will-power not prevailing over the past couple of months, I decided to write myself a pledge. I keep it next to my bed so that I can read it when I first wake up, and I’m thinking of framing it so I can smack myself over the head. Just for that extra KICK.

My pledge has been working, despite the odd slip up. I read it groggy eyed and then force myself out of my slumber. It gives me the boost when I’m feeling the most unproductive of all.

So guys, I’m putting in a request that you write your own pledge. It doesn’t have to be about waking up. It can be about anything. Post it up on your Facebook, send it to me in an email attachment to goaldrafting@gmail.com, attach it to a carrier pigeon and hope for the best.

However you choose to send it my way, I’d love to hear your pledges.

Here is mine!

Ah, I got one from some random site that the Dalai Lama say’s to try and say every morning. I really think it helps brighten my mood and outlook on the day. “Today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”
